Roger L. Cassem, 83, of Estherville died Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Roger was born in Burt, IA, on May 30, 1940 to Edwin and Laura (Worden) Cassem, and went to school until he was old enough to work for local filling stations. He was united in marriage to Sharen Spoo on January 3, 1960, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Estherville. He worked at Estherville Concrete Products and later migrated to John Morrell. Upon John Morrell’s closing, Roger went to The Anderson’s (formerly Superior Elevator Cooperative) until his eventual retirement after 23 years.
Roger was a member of the Estherville United Methodist Church and enjoyed roller skating in his younger years. He was an avid bowler, fisherman, and enjoyed putting together puzzles with the ladies at Parkview Terrace.
Left to cherish Roger’s memory is his adoring wife of 64 years, Sharen; siblings Hazelle Cassem, Mike Cassem, Mary Taylor, and Rochelle Jones; and his loving nephews, Adam and Jason Wieck, cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends. He is preceded in death by sister Karen Rosenberg; brothers Dennis and Duane Cassem; and his parents Edwin and Laura Cassem.
Funeral services will be held at a later date.
