Ronald Roy Harris, was born on October 4, 1938 to Roy and Amelia (Harvego) Harris in Jackson, Minnesota. Ron died on Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at his home in rural Estherville at the age of 82 years.

Ron grew up by Lakefield, Minnesota, his family then moved to Martin County, Minnesota where he attended school in Ceylon. While in high school, the family moved to Emmet County and he graduated from Estherville High School in 1956.

Ronald married Elizabeth Rienhardt on November 2, 1957 in Glenwood, Minnesota. The couple made their home in rural Emmet County. Ron farmed in Emmet County for many years, raising hogs and cattle. He also worked for the Emmet County FSA Bin Crew, a field reporter, and later as a crop adjuster.

Ron was a member of the Huntington Methodist Church, where he served as an officer. He was a 4-H leader and active on the 4-H extension council. Being a part of the Soil and Conservation Board was important to him. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, gardening, and reading. He was an avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed watching and attending rodeos. Ron shared his love of horses with his children and grandchildren. Ron loved spending time with his grandchildren, especially in the summer.

Ronald is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Harris; his children: Delaine (Rhett) Hiney, Graettinger; Rhonda Harris, Lake Crystal, Minnesota; Ronald (Patricia) Harris, Eden Prairie, Minnesota; Greg (Deanna) Harris, Nashville, Tennessee; Brad (Ann) Harris, Dunnell, Minnesota; and Nicole Harris, Seattle, Washington; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and one on the way. He is also survived by his siblings, Harlen (Pat) Harris, Lakefield, Minnesota; Robert Harris, Story City, Iowa; and Karen Ayers, Hershey, Pennsylvania.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy W. and Amelia (Harvego) Harris, brother Leland Harris, sister-in-law Ruby Harris, and brother-in-law Robert Ayers.

Private family services will be held for Ron. Burial will take place at East Side Cemetery in Estherville. Memorials are preferred to Thrifty’s.
