Ruby Irene Harris, age 74, of Surprise, AZ, and Estherville, IA, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2021, at her home in Surprise, AZ.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 20, 2021 at Estherville Lutheran Church, Estherville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Everyone is encouraged to wear face coverings and practice social distancing while attending visitation and services.
Ruby was born on February 1, 1947, in Estherville, IA, to Roy Kenneth and Irene Corle (Campney) Enerson. She graduated from Estherville High School in 1965. She was united in marriage to Leland Richard Harris at Estherville Lutheran Church on August 2, 1964.
Ruby was a member of the Harbor of Joy Church in Milford, IA, and the American Lutheran Church in Peoria, AZ. She enjoyed golf, fishing, watching the birds in her backyard, and helping Leland on the farm and with his trucking company.
Leland and Ruby enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, going to rallies, visiting different places, and meeting new people. Ruby also enjoyed going out to eat with friends. She was always on the go and was known for getting things done; she loved being busy and helping others. Ruby and her dear (late) friend Everine Bradshaw were instrumental in establishing Estherville Community Christian School. In retirement, she enjoyed woodworking, stained glass, volunteering, and spending time with friends at her homes in both Iowa and Arizona.
Left to cherish Ruby’s memory are her daughter, Robbyn Allen, and Robbyn’s children Matthew (Brittany) Allen, with great granddaughters Hadleigh, Hensleigh, and Haizleigh Allen; Amber (Joshua) Jones, with great grandchildren Gage, Max, Finnley, and Remington Jones; daughter Richelle (Mark) Bisenius, with grandchildren Tyler Bisenius, Leah (Bradley) Corr II, Tate Bisenius (with great granddaughters Amira and Jamila), and Evan Bisenius; son Richard (Brenda) Harris, with grandchildren Weston, Hunter, Dylan, and Macy Harris; and son Ryan (Amber) Harris, with grandchildren Boston, Grace, and Kynlee Harris. Ruby also is survived by sisters Doris (Jack) Rumpp, Edna (Robert) Meyer, brother Arvin (Anna) Enerson, and sister Mary (Marcus) Carris.
In death, Ruby rejoins her husband, Leland; parents Roy and Irene; brother Donald Enerson; sister Janet McGregor; and granddaughter Amanda Allen.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ruby’s name to Emmet County Relay for Life.
