A graveside service will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, May 8, 2021, at East Side Cemetery, Estherville for Rudolf Abel, 79, of Estherville.
Rudolf Alexander Daniel Abel, the son of Rudolf Phillipp Abel and Margarethe (vonLoehr) Abel, was born in Berlin, Germany on April 11, 1942. He passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021, at his home in Estherville.
Rudi moved with his family to Estherville in 1949. He graduated from Estherville High School in 1961 and then Estherville Junior College. He enlisted into the United States Army in 1962 and was stationed in Hawaii. While serving his country he obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science and graduated from University of Hawaii in 1967. He was honorably discharged from military service in 1968. Rudi continued to live in Hawaii until moving back to Estherville on April 1, 1999. In his leisure time he enjoyed collecting antiques, coins, stamps, comics and china.
Rudi was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Left to cherish his memory is his sister-in-law, Elvia Abel.
He has been preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Rolf and Peter.
