A memorial service for Sherry Katie Kooker, 71, of Superior, Iowa, was held at 5 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 17 at Crosswinds Community Church in Spirit Lake with Pastor Kurt Trucksess officiating. She passed away on Oct. 14, 2021, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Sherry Katie Kooker, daughter of Edward and Mary (Lomax) Keller, was born on Oct. 1, 1950, in Marceline, Missouri.
Sherry married Thomas Kooker on December 18, 1981 and to this union, two children were born, Amber and Justin. She worked at the bank for a few years before managing a Subway in Kansas City. Most recently she worked for a collections agency.
In her free time, Sherry enjoyed baking, especially Christmas cookies, fishing with her grandchildren and traveling. Her favorite thing to do was spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren who she loved dearly. Sherry was a member of Crosswinds Community Church in Spirit Lake.
Sherry is survived by her husband, Thomas Kooker of Superior, Iowa; her children, Amber (Kevin) Marvin and Justin Kooker; grandchildren, Mercedes, Triniti, Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel; and her “adopted” son, Steve (Alice) Huffman and his daughter Jamie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Mary Keller, her brother, Edward Keller and her son-in-law, Shane Sellers.
