A memorial service for Shirley will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Family will greet people from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

Shirley Berryhill was born on Feb. 27, 1945, in Steen, Minn., to Hazel and Myron Griffin and passed away April 5, 2023 in Elk River, MN.

On Sept. 15, 1973, Shirley married Barry Berryhill in their home in Estherville, Iowa.

Over the years, the couple raised their kids, Craig, Jeff, and Christy, and created a home where the door was always open and everyone was always welcome. This included an endless parade of dogs “rescued” by (or from) the kids.

Shirley loved her children without bounds; and enjoyed meeting their friends and keeping up with everything that was important to them throughout every stage of life. Shirley and Barry were married for 40 years and truly adored and enjoyed each other.

Shirley worked hard and enjoyed life to the fullest. She always had a story to tell, from growing up in her large, loud, extended family, to the early days of dating Barry, raising her kids as teenagers, the funny things her grandchildren said and did, and everything in between. Shirley had a playful sense of humor that made everyone who met her feel right at home; and she was cracking jokes with her staff right up to the night she passed away.

Left to honor Shirley’s memory with love and laughter are her sons, Craig Berryhill of Estherville, and Jeff Berryhill and his daughters Emma and Ellie of New Port Ritchey, Florida; and her daughter Christy Berryhill, Jibri Copeland and their sons Christian and Benjamin of Elk River, Minnesota. Along with sisters Carole Barton and Glenda Zoet, and an incredible group of cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.

Shirley is now reunited with her husband Barry and their infant son Chad; brothers Bud, Glen, Earl, Gale and Larry; sister Dorothy Rowland, and parents Hazel and Myron. She will be remembered for her love of quilting, dogs, Diet Pepsi, and her grandchildren, (not necessarily in that order); and for the endless kindness and generosity she extended to everyone she met.
