Jiu Jitsu may be one way to prevent assault

Edwards offers free sessions Feb. 19 for women seeking self-defense strategies

A.J. Edwards, instructor in Gracie Jiu Jitsu at 362 Training Center located on the mats at the Regional Wellness Center, is offering a free seminar. The two sessions will take place Saturday, Feb. 19 at 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. The public is invited to attend one or both sessions.

Edwards recently left his job to pursue Jiu Jitsu as a vocation.

“I quit my job to do what I love most; that is teaching self defense to those who need it,” Edwards said.

In addition to teaching classes to all ages, Edwards said exciting new things are on the horizon with law enforcement and other organizations in the area.

Edwards said depending on the interest from the Women’s seminar Feb 19, he would open a new women’s class at the RWC.
