SPIRIT LAKE — The suspect in the shooting last week of 24-year-old Shelby Woizeschke now faces an upgraded charge of 1st degree murder. Christian Goyne-Yarns, 25, had originally been charged with attempted murder. His bond is set at $1 million cash only. The charge was amended Monday morning after Woizeschke passed away of her injuries over the weekend at a Sioux Falls hospital.
Court documents state Woizeschke, 24, was shot at least two times Thursday morning, Feb. 3, in the parking lot at Grapetree Medical Staffing in Milford as she arrived for work. The documents also reveal that Goyne-Yarns and Woizeschke had two young children together.
Goyne-Yarns was taken into custody a short time following Thursday’s shooting at his place of employment in Spirit Lake.
An account for Woizeschke’s two children has been established at Northwest Bank.
