She married Arnie Aalborg in 1947. They raised four children in Estherville. After Ar-nie’s death in 1965, Vir-ginia moved her family to San Francisco, Calif., to be close to her siblings. Virginia worked full time while attending night school earning a double master’s degree in Psychol-ogy and Special Education from San Francisco State University. She had a long and fulfilling career as a learning specialist and math teacher at A.P. Giannini Middle School in San Fran-cisco. Virginia was an avid reader and a lover of the arts, frequenting the opera and museums. She was an excellent cook and loved hosting dinner parties. Vig-inia loved to travel and took trips to Mexico, Europe, and traveled solo to Turkey in her 70s. Virginia moved to Davis, Calif., in 2002 immersing herself in the community where she became an active member of the Davis Lutheran Church. In 2014, she was one of the first residents to move into the Carlton Plaza in Da-vis where she made many new friends. Virginia was pre-ceded in her death by her siblings Mar-garet, Ann, Jim, and Harri-et; husband Arnie; son Ter-ry; grandsons Solomon and Benjamin, and her beloved dog Daisy. She is survived by her daughters Annette, Beth (Paul), Mary (Jules); her grandchildren Laura, Hannah, Jacob, Joshua, Anna, Nicholas, Greta, Bri-anna, and Camille, as well as nine great grandchildren who will surely miss her. Virginia will be remem-bered by family and friends for her love, generosity, in-dependence, spirited spun-kiness, dedication, abiding faith and sense of adven-ture. We will keep her in our hearts. A memorial service will be held at Davis Lutheran Church, and a burial cere-mony will take place in Es-therville once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. In lieu of a memorial fund, please donate to your local SPCA or animal shelter to honor Virginia’s love of all our canine friends.
