Rylee Yager pitched a no-hitter and Estherville Lincoln Central’s bats gave the eighth grader plenty of run support, as the Midgets defeated Spirit Lake 8-1 on Wednesday.
Yager struck out 10 batters and walked three with the Indians’ lone run unearned.
In her pre-game pep talk, ELC coach Megan Anderson implored her team to have “no let up” and the players responded.
ELC’s offense went to work in the bottom of the first inning as Jasey Anderson led off with a single, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Yager and scored on a double by Tatum Dunlavy. Dunlavy stole third base and then easily scored on a two-out double to let by Saylor Ayers.
