Algona/ELC swimmers wrap up regular season
CARROLL — The Algona/Estherville Lincoln Central High School Girls Swim Team finished up the season at Carroll falling to Carroll 81-13 and Perry 53-40 on Tuesday.
Best finish against Carroll was Kaitlyn Pollock in the 100 butterfly in 1:14.26, finishing second.
Against Perry, Pollock was first in the 500 free in 6.53.40.
Second place finishes versus Perry were by the 200 medley relay team of Emily Paulson, Leah Williams, Pollock and Quimby Ross in 2:28.06, Trysta Penning in the 200 freestyle in 3:07.21, Paulson in the 200 individual medley in 2:59.50, Pollock in the 100 butterfly in 1:14.26, Quimby Ross in the 100 freestyle in 1:10.11, 200 freestyle relay team of Emma and Quimby Ross, Paulson and Caitlin Shannon in 2:13.23, Paulson in the 100 backstroke in 1:25.10 , Shannon in the 100 breaststroke in 1:41.24 and the 400 relay team of Emma Ross, Leah Williams, Josie Wiita and Pollock in 5:03.52.
“The girls continued to show improvement with their times continuing to drop,” said Algona/ELC coach Jim Fisher. “The times dropped in 21 of the 31 events the girls swam in. Justice Fehr dropped 11 seconds in the 200 free and Faith Huber dropped 36 seconds in the 500 free.”
The Algona/ELC Team travels to regionals in Fort Dodge on Nov. 7.
