Jim Reed, 81, passed away Saturday January 27, 2024, at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, WI, surrounded by his family.
Jim was born February 17, 1942, in Estherville, IA to Harold and Evelyn Reed, the youngest of four brothers. He attended public schools, graduating from EHS class of 1960. He served in the army in Korea followed by pursuing his education degree at Mankato State University. He married Normanda (Mandi) Ohlund, his high school sweetheart and began his teaching career in Fairmont, MN. They moved to Estherville and Jim continued teaching and coaching in Graettinger, IA. He was the head basketball coach and assistant football coach.
After the birth of their son, Tim, the family moved to Port Washington, WI and Jim began a career in Sales. He and his brother, Jack, formed J&J Reed Company, a Manufacturer’s Representative Agency and his son Tim joined the company, working together until his retirement. Jim was an avid sports fanatic, following as much as he could, including Indy Car Racing.
Jim is survived by his wife Mandi, son Tim (Stacie), granddaughter Isabel, sister-in-law Nan Kember (Jerry), and nieces and nephews.
Preceding him were his parents, Evelyn & Harold Reed, brothers Jack, Robert, and Charles (Tuffy), sister-in-law Mariel and in-laws Norman and Lydia Ohlund.
Not only a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and uncle but also a mentor and friend to so many. His humor and kindness will be missed.
In honor of Jim’s wishes there will be no services.
