Funeral services for Kenneth “Kenny” Pytleski, 58, of Gruver, were held at 5 p.m., Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at the Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel in Estherville with Pastor David Hovinga officiating. Kenny died on March 28, 2024, at the Spencer Hospital. Visitation was held prior to the service at the funeral home.
Kenneth Scott Pytleski, known as “Kenny” was born in Estherville Jan. 28, 1966, to Jerry and Marjorie Pytleski. He was one of eight siblings. He grew up in Gruver graduating from Lincoln Central High School. Kenny was employed with the City of Estherville until his health issues.
Kenny was loving, caring, goofy, happy and a STUD (as he would call himself!) Kenny was very active and loved to be outside whenever he got the chance. He loved golfing with all of his buddies, with his brother John being his all-time favorite golf partner. There was always competition between them to see who was the better golfer! Kenny loved to be out on the golf course every day when he could. He made two “Holes in One”! If he wasn’t playing golf, he was mowing lawns for the people he cared about, and in the winter, he would be snow blowing everyone’s driveways and splitting wood. Kenny was a perfectionist when it came to mowing lawns with straight lines and perfectly cut edges. He always said he was mowing lawns out of the kindness of his heart for people, but he was actually doing it for a good summer tan!
Kenny had a nickname for everyone. After a while others would catch on and use those names. He had nicknames for each one of his nieces and nephews, which in turn they started calling him Uncle Kramer.
Kenny was a huge Rocky and Rambo fan. He had all the movies and even had to record them.... just because. He always enjoyed a good blizzard and watched Rocky movies all day (after he got done snow blowing everyone’s driveway of course). Even his ringtone on his phone was Rocky’s theme song “Gonna Fly Now”. In high school, after watching the movie for the first time, he and his buddies drank raw eggs and went for runs down the gravel roads because Rocky did.
Kenny loved his family and did a lot for them. His main focus was to help his mom which she truly appreciated. He would mow the lawn and she would always be waiting with a cold glass of water, and it of course had to have ice in it. Kenny also enjoyed his mom’s cooking and baking as she was the best in his eyes.
He loved all of his siblings, even if they were annoying him! His happy place was being with family and friends. He made many happy memories with his loved ones.
His most favorite memories made were all the ones he made with his daughter, Hopie. Kenny got the chance to see her grow into the person she is today and was very proud of her! He was a very (over) protective father who always wanted her to be safe. He also told her to get home before dark and never look at her phone while driving, even if he would be the one calling or texting. And of course, no boys until after college! Hopie’s reply would always be “OK – Dad!” just to please him. After every goodbye to her dad, he would ALWAYS say “Call me when you get home” along with “Be good and do what’s right!”

Left to cherish Kenny’s memory are his son, Kyle (Daniela) Pytleski and daughter Hope Pytleski; his mother Marjorie Pytleski; siblings, Mike (Darla) Pytleski; Kurt (Fran) Pytleski; John (Susan) Pytleski; Dan (Patricia) Pytleski; Kay (Jeff) Dahl, and many nieces and nephews.
He has been preceded in death by his dad, Jerry Pytleski, his brothers Jeff Pytleski and Keith Pytleski.
