Funeral services for Loretta M. Haukoos, 91, of Estherville, were held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 10, 2026, at Grandview Baptist Church in Estherville with Pastor Joel Sadler officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at East Side Cemetery, Estherville. Loretta died on Oct. 6, 2026, at the Good Samaritan Society in Estherville.
Loretta Mae Haukoos, the daughter of Merle Galvin and Iva (Michael) Kleen, was born on May 2, 1935, in Estherville, Iowa.
Loretta attended Estherville Schools.
On May 1, 1953, she was united in marriage to Wayne Haukoos in Jackson, Minn. Following their marriage, the couple made their home in Estherville.
Loretta worked for Pamida for 17 years.
In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading, going to her coffee group and watching the hummingbirds at the feeder. She was also a member of Grandview Baptist Church and the VFW Auxiliary.
Loretta is survived by her children, Darla (Michael) Pytleski of Gruver, Iowa; David (Michelle) Haukoos of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; De Etta Koen of Estherville; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two sons-in-law, Terry Johnson and Kenneth Spoo.
She has been preceded in death by her loving husband, Wayne Haukoos, parents, Merle Galvin and Iva Kleen, her step-father, Edgar Kleen, daughters, Debra Cox, Denise Johnson, and Doreen Spoo, grandson, Kyle VanCleave, an infant sister, Darlene, and her mother and father-in-law, Otis and Violet Haukoos.
